River Creek began as a sprawling plantation estates on the Potomac River. The entire River Creek area is filled with historical significance to American History. The current River Creek area was the site of the The current River Creek property was site of the Battle of Ball's Bluff during the American Civil War. The golf course was the location where Union troops battled the Confederate troops.

In 1987, Marcus W. Montgomery had a vision to combine his love of golf and engineering and land design career into a first of it's kind community. Soon after he started to put his vision together, Montgomery found the perfect piece of land at the confluence of the Potomac River and Goose Creek. Montgomery allowed the land to dictate the development. This was a task very few wanted to tackle. Montgomery was quoted as saying, "designing River Creek was easy because Mother Nature did the hard part". His respect of the land shows in the details left to Mother Nature to provide.

River Creek offers over 600 beautiful acres. About 3 miles of land bordering the Potomac River and Goose Creek and 8 lakes. The community offers waterfront views with 80 ft bluffs that will leave you breathless. River Creek is a simple but elegant community with beauty only created by Mother Nature. River Creek is more than a community it provides a lifestyle matched by very few.
